The partner requested an LMS template that provided instructors with the research based evidence behind each of the sections. We used the SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) as a guide and a resource. Each section and page of the template included instructor facing descriptions of the importance of including that element.
- Audience: Program administrators seeking to support instructors and improve course consistency and quality.
- Goals/needs: LMS template that provides guidance and reasoning to instructors as they create courses. Additionally, they were seeking other ways to support instructors.
- Tools implemented: Canvas LMS, Custom CSS, CidiLabs Design Tool, Poll Everywhere, H5P
- Teams involved: Learning Architects, Learning Technologists, Graphic Design Team, Quality Review Team
In addition to the informational template, a guided sample course was built that described why certain elements were included and linked instructors back to the research and reasoning.

Welcome page in the course template provides instructors with information and guidance as they create this section of their course.
