My team had the opportunity to work with partner who was launching a new Online program on an LMS that they were unfamiliar with.
- Audience: Worked with a major University to launch online courses on their newly purchased LMS
- Goals/needs: Develop a quality learner experience and provide support to administrators and instructors
- Tools implemented: D2L (Brightspace), VoiceThread, Hypothesis, Panopto, custom CSS and JS
- Teams involved: Learning Architects, Graphic Designers, and Learning Technologists
This was an extremely large project. Successful launch of the first round of courses was imperative for future funding and support.
Key accomplishments of my team include:
- Delivery of all courses before the deadline.
- Uploading of all video content including captions and transcripts.
- Close collaboration with University IT and Instructional Design team to train them on technology integrations and course setup.
- Just in time troubleshooting while the first round of courses ran.
Each course started with a Course Overview module that helped to orient the students to the course objectives as well as the new technology that they would be interacting with.
Visual Table of Contents
We recommended the use of the Visual Table of Contents to enhance the learner experience. Custom images were created for each module to reflect the content.
Learning Resources
Learning resources were listed on their own page with citations and links with possible. Additionally, a description and focus questions were included.
Embedded Multimedia
Videos and podcasts were embedded to ease access to these resources. As with the readings, focus text was included as well as a full citation and link when possible.
