Professional Development for Educators

Our teams developed multiple courses for a series of online professional development courses for educators. The courses were intended to be delivered in cohorts at regular intervals. They were hybrid in nature with regular synchronous meetings throughout the term.

  • Audience: Educators seeking additional certificates
  • Goals/needs: Highly collaborative experience, expert presence, consistent navigation across all courses
  • Tools implemented: Canvas LMS, Kaltura, Yellowdig, Bongo, iSpring, HTML, CSS
  • Teams involved: Learning Architects, Learning Technologists, Graphic Design Team, Quality Review Team

This project required multiple teams to collaborate and communicate regularly to achieve the goals of the partner. I have selected a few screenshots to help explain some of the design decisions that were made.

  1. The homepage (shown in the GIF above) was customized using CSS and custom graphics created by the graphic design team. Each module number is listed in the homepage graphic and the module titles appeared upon rollover. In mobile view, the elements stack in a logical order.
  2. Slide 1: Each module contained the same 7 page types. As learners navigated through the course, the elements were familiar and consistent. For example, the Planner page outlined the module objectives and activities, the Library page contained any learning resources, and the Lounge page provided opportunities for collaboration with colleagues.
  3. Slide 2: Objectives, notes, dates, and instructions presented in tabs to decrease page scrolling.
  4. Slide 3: Interactive elements built in iSpring. My team worked closely with the Learning Architect and Graphic Design teams to communicate ideas visually. Learners were able to assess their understanding using interactions and quizzes within the iSpring presentations.
